I am always puzzled by people who claim that the Bible is a work of fiction and there is absolutely no proof that any of it is true. These people are obviously so biased that they cannot see life going on around them. I also find myself confused about people who try to predict the end of the world using the Bible when the Bible clearly tells us that only God knows when that is going happen.

The Bible talks about things that would happen in the future, some of which we are witnessing today. Notice what Paul wrote to Timothy: But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power (II Timothy 3:1-5) Does this not sound like the world today? The big eye opener is in verse 5 when Paul points out that he is also speaking of professed followers of Jesus! They have a form of godliness; it certainly is not the godliness that God desires His children have. Their form of godliness is without power.

Paul also wrote to Timothy in his first letter: The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. 2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron (I Timothy 4:1, 2). Paul reminded Timothy of this in his second letter, 3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths (II Timothy 4:3, 4).

Many of the doomsday prophets often turn to the book of Revelation and attempt to equate many of the images and events described by John to modern day people and events. I believe that this is taking things to the other extreme. People have claimed that people from Hitler to Ronald Reagan was the anti-Christ. The truth of the matter is that anyone who does not believe that Jesus is the Christ is an anti-Christ, at least that is what John said. (See I John 2:18-22, I John 4:3, II John 7)

I bring this to light to help us recognize the warnings that God has given us through His word. God said the things we are seeing now were going to happen and we can attest that they are. The Bible is not a work a fiction and it needs to be read, studied, and followed. We are told that there are two gates, one leads to salvation, and one leads to destruction. Jesus said in Mark 16:1616 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. We have no reason whatsoever not to believe that is true! Your eternal destiny is in your hands.
